Engaged Classrooms and Large Outdoor Learning Environments

Consistently across all of our classrooms, our professional Lead Educators utilise an emergent curriculum based upon the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework. We cater for ages ranging from 15 months to school age.

We recognise that children have a natural sense of curiosity and each one has unique talents, capabilities and aspirations. Our Hot Tots community nurtures these characteristics as we provide a stimulating, healthy and caring environment where children can flourish in their development.

The centre is fully air-conditioned and each classroom is designed to cater specifically for each age group and activities appropriate for the childrens developmental stages.

Hot Tots is committed to maintaining an outdoor environment, with emphasis on the use of natural materials to promote a sense of wonder and an understanding of the natural world, with the purpose of supporting our children in developing an understanding of sustainability.

Kindergarten
3.5 years to school age

We provide the Government approved Kindergarten program delivered by a degree qualified Early Childhood Teacher. In doing this we are ensuring our children are heading off to Prep with all of the skills required to be fully prepared to succeed on every level.

Our Kindergarten classroom is equipped with an interactive smartboard and is a welcoming environment where children feel confident about becoming increasingly involved learners.

Through structured play, children learn to negotiate, cooperate, create, imagine, solve problems, discuss ideas with others, investigate, explore, develop literacy and numeracy and connect with others - including the wider community.

Play will always remain the main focus of our Kindergarten timetable, as we continue to support, develop and extend your child's individualism, interests, ideas and creativity.

Our Kindergarten Teacher will complete a 'Transition Statement' for each child, to ensure that there is a high quality of continuity of learning and your child is supported in their school learning environment.

Pre Kindy
3 to 3.5 years

Our Pre Kindy classroom is an exciting environment where children learn through experimental play and begin to develop important life skills, including socialising, sharing and developing their personal identity, sense of belonging and overall confidence.

Our Educators gain a keen understanding of each child's holistic development, and extend each child through achievable challenges. We encourage and welcome parents to work with us in partnership, helping their child to reinforce and perpetuate their new skills.

Children's friendships and cooperative play skills are developing rapidly during this age, and our educational programs use peer interactions to extend children's learning throughout all areas.

We meet the needs of each individual child within indoor and outdoor spaces that present fresh experiences, utilising educational programs and resources in order to develop the children's social skills in fun, safe and secure surroundings.

Children of this age are starting to understand social skills such as sharing and being kind. They often enjoy being with other children and tend to spend more time playing together. Our qualified Educators will model communication strategies to support children in initiating interactions and joining in play and social experiences in ways that sustain positive relationships with other children.

Our children are empowered to follow and extend their own interests with enthusiasm and concentration. Educators listen intently to children's ideas and discuss with them how these ideas might be developed and explored. Our Pre Kindy children are given unlimited opportunities to engage in play in all of its forms with freedom to explore and experiment, with no limitations on children's learning opportunities.

Junior Kindy
2 to 3 years

Our Educators work closely with each child so they can develop a thorough understanding of each child's development, knowledge and interests. This allows our Educators to carefully plan play based learning opportunities catering to each individual child. By planning learning opportunities through play that are fun and based on children's unique interests, children are intrinsically motivated to learn.

The learning opportunities provided in this age group aim to extend the foundation skills developed in the Toddler's room. Our Junior Kindy Educators all share the same professional philosophy to help the children to discover their own identities so that we can embrace and build on each individual child's skill sets and special areas of interest. We strongly encourage parents to share their family environments with us so we can always consistently implement new ideas within our daily activities. Our Educators will ensure partnerships with families are facilitated and maintained to ensure you are well informed about your child's learning and engagement at the Centre.

We run a flexible indoor/outdoor routine within our classroom so that we can engage the children and take every opportunity to develop the interests of the children. We as Educators believe that we give the children a strong foundation to become confident and involved learners by providing daily experiences that encourage them to develop a range of skills and an understanding of processes such as problem solving, experimentation, hypothesizing and investigating.

Toddlers
15 months to 2 years

Our Toddlers program focuses on creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, secure and supported while developing confidence and independence in their emerging abilities.

We respect the routines established by our families and work hand in hand with them to create the best possible experience for our littlest children.

Our Educators will gain a deep understanding of each child's unique personality, backgrounds and interests and plan specific play-based learning opportunities catered to each child's individual learning needs. Learning opportunities are provided to build on and extend each child's emerging intellectual, social, emotional, physical and language skills.

Without undercutting the importance of what is being learnt, we always remain aware of short young attention spans and the need to always incorporate fun and play into the process.

Even the youngest of children are provided with opportunities to extend their learning through their interests, and enjoy many art and music based activities.

Central to our warm and caring environment are the close relationships we maintain with all of our children and their families. Clear and consistent communication is key and we enjoy every opportunity to share in your child's growth and progress at Hot Tots and at home.

We encourage children to become confident and involved learners as they explore, experiment and investigate throughout every day.
